Orders & delivery

Is chord open for orders?

Yes. chord launched on May 19, 2026. Upload a photo, customize size and framing, and check out. We ship to US, UK, CA, SG, JP, and AU with all-inclusive pricing (shipping + duties + taxes covered).

Can my painting arrive before Father's Day (June 21, 2026)?

Order by June 5, 2026 for Father's Day delivery. The full cycle (photo review + artist briefing + hand-painting + drying + QC + tracked shipping) is about 14–18 days. Orders placed after June 5 will still ship — they just may arrive after the holiday.

How long does shipping take?

Production takes about 7–10 days. International express shipping (DHL / UPS / FedEx) adds another 3–5 business days for US/CA/UK/JP/AU and 1–2 days within Singapore. You receive a tracking number when your painting leaves the studio.

Which countries do you ship to?

United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Singapore, Japan, and Australia today. We're actively adding more countries — drop your email on the country waitlist on any product page if you're outside these 6.

Photo upload, preview & production

What happens after I upload my photo?

Three things in parallel: (1) you can generate a free preview to see roughly how your photo will look as an oil painting, (2) chord's Singapore team reviews the photo for faces, lighting, and composition, (3) the photo + your story + special requests go into the artist brief. You can change the photo any time before production starts.

How does preview work? Is it the final painting?

No — the preview is just a quick visualization to help you decide. The final piece is hand-painted by a real artist with real brushes, real paint, on real cotton-linen canvas. Brush strokes, color choices, and emotional details will differ from the preview. The preview takes about 2–3 minutes to generate.

Who paints the oil painting?

Trained oil painters in Dafen, Shenzhen — the world's largest oil painting district. chord's Singapore team handles photo review, artist matching, progress proof, quality check, and tracked delivery. You see in-progress photos during production so you know it's a real human painting.

What if my photo is blurry or low quality?

Most phone photos work. If a photo cannot be painted well (very low resolution, severe blur, important subjects in deep shadow), we contact you within 48 hours to ask for a different photo or refund before production starts. You always get to swap photos for free before painting begins.

Refunds & remakes

How do refunds work?

Five tiers based on situation: (1) Cancel before painting starts → full refund. (2) Photo cannot be painted → full refund before production. (3) Production error → we fix or remake at no cost. (4) Transit damage → replace or refund after carrier evidence. (5) Proof feedback → one included adjustment before final shipment. See /legal/returns for the full policy.

What if I don't like the finished painting?

Send us a photo of the finished piece. If it falls short of what the preview promised, or if there's a clear quality issue, we'll remake or refund. The original is yours to keep either way. This is for genuine quality concerns — not subjective changes-of-mind after production.

Can I cancel after I place the order?

Yes — full refund anytime before the artist starts painting (usually 24–48 hours after order). After painting starts, we can no longer cancel because materials and artist time have been committed.

Payment & pricing

What payment methods do you accept?

All major credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, JCB), Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link via Stripe. Payment is charged in your local currency at checkout.

Is the price all-inclusive?

Yes. The price on the product page already includes shipping, customs duties, and any applicable taxes (VAT/GST) for the 6 supported countries. No surprises at checkout, no extra invoices from the courier.

Why does the price change when I switch country or size?

Each combination of size (A3/A2/A1), framing (canvas / gallery wrap / pine wood), and persons (1/2/3) has its own price. We also localize prices by country so duties and taxes are pre-included accurately for your region.

Privacy & your photo

What happens to my photo?

Your photo is used for: preview generation, artist brief, production reference, and progress proof. It is stored in private R2 (Cloudflare) and shown only to chord staff + the assigned artist. It is never used for marketing, never sold, never shared with third parties. After your order ships, we keep the photo for 90 days then anonymize it.

What data do you collect?

Email + shipping address (for fulfillment), photo + customizations (for production), payment data (handled by Stripe — we never see your card number), and basic analytics (GA4, Meta Pixel, TikTok Pixel, Cloudflare Web Analytics) to measure ad effectiveness. Full list in /legal/privacy.

Can I delete my account and data?

Yes — email dylan@chord.gift. We anonymize within 7 days. Note: if you have an active order or completed orders within tax-retention period (7 years per Singapore law), we keep the minimum order record needed for legal/tax purposes but strip personal identifiers.
